Alzaabi's and Anwar's presentation

This is a summary for a presentation done by Alzaabi and Anwar in LSEC N101 class . The presentation was On Monday 25th of April 2011 and it was about satellites. The presentation was excellent and it took about 20 minutes and most of the students like it and got good information. I liked the introduction of the presentation which was a question from Alzaabi to all of students about what they know about satellites.  Both of Alzaabi and Anwar had good eye contact with all of the students. They were talking with self confidence and without reading from the screen.
They gave very good videos showing how satellites works and how they send them to the space. However the second video was very long and it wasn't necessary. all the students liked the presentation and all of them got good information from it.

My reflection on the Meeting

Our team consists of 3 students. Me as a chairman, Omar Aljabri as a secretary, Mohsen as partticipant. We had two meetings; the first one was about choosing a topic for a problem and discussing it. The second meeting was writing all the meeting’s points as a minute. Our meetings were great and we had fun discussing the problem which was about aggressive driving. Each member gave his ideas and supported it with examples and solutions. We didn’t face any problem and there were no arguments at all. I think all of us had a good time and we benefited from this experiment.

Aggressive & Reckless Drivers

Minutes
Date: 3 / 7 / 2011
Venue: Room W007
Group Members:

      Chairman: Ali Saif Albadwawi
      Secretary: Omar Abdul Aziz Aljabri
      Participant: Mohsen Salem Shamlan
Agenda:
1.      We discuss our topic which is about aggressive & reckless drivers
2.      First thing we talk about the reasons
3.      Second we discuss the effects of this problem.
4.      Then we discuss about solutions for this problem

The chairman Ali called the meeting to order at 16:30 with group members Omar and Mohsen.
1.      Omar said one of the reasons is the personal problems that drivers face every day and it affects their mood. Mohsen said young drivers like to challenge and make the road as a racing circuit. Ali said that reckless driving is like an infection; when a driver drives recklessly and tailgates another driver, the second driver will be angry and will drive aggressively. We agreed that one of the main reasons is going late to college or work, so they drive very fast. The fourth reason is the crowded roads and the traffic which makes drivers angry.
2.      Omar said the first and main effect is an increase in car accidents and deaths. Ali said it makes drivers worry and gain anxiety. Mohsen said this problem gives a bad image about the city.
3.      Omar said the media should increase the awareness of this problem. Also in the driving school, they should make classes just to teach drivers how to respect others and the dangers of reckless driving. Ali suggested that the reckless driver must attend classes about driving safely; if they don’t attend the classes the police should suspend their license for a period of time; Omar disagree with this solution. He said it was unfair to lose your license for just one offence.
4.      At the end of this meeting, we agreed that the main reason of this problem is the family matters and personal issues which make the person to become an aggressive driver. Also, we agreed that car accidents and deaths increased as an effect of this problem. We think the main solution is to raise the awareness of the drivers by advertisements and giving classes about safe driving in the driving schools.

Tips for presenters

1.     Practice many times. (B)
2.     Don’t memorize your presentation. Make brief notes to guide you. (B)
3.     Relax, take a deep breath, and wait until the audience is quiet.(B)
4.     Speak loudly and clearly, and use your voice for stress and emphasis. (D)
5.     Make eye contact with the audience as you speak. (D)
6.     Use gesture to show meaning. Make them slowly and clearly.( D)
7.     Use simple visual aids that everyone can see. (D)
8.     Don’t say, “Finished.” Or “That’s all.” Smile and say “thank you” (D)
9.     Think about how you can do better next time. (A)

I think the two points in the red font are the most important points. Because practice makes perfect and speaking in confident voice makes the speaker look excellent
